Diving

Diving is a passion for many of the visitors who come to San Carlos. It makes no difference if you are a novice or a dive master, our underwater playground offers something for everyone. The crystal clear waters are incredibly calm and you'll find visibility up to 100 feet. These waters provide a showcase for more than 800 species of marine life. Two artificial reefs, a sunken ferry and several smaller wrecks make the Sonora Bay area an ideal dive destination. More and more divers are talking about San Carlos, which is rapidly gaining a reputation as one of the top diving spots in Mexico.

You'll never run out of things to do in San Carlos. At the top of the list you’ll find sport fishing, sailing, diving and golf. But there are plenty of other things to do including snorkeling, windsurfing, kite boarding, water skiing, jet skiing, whale watching, shell collecting, clamming, bird watching, mountain biking, hiking, mountain climbing, horseback riding, hunting, tennis and yes even casinos in nearby Guaymas.  For those of you who want to do volunteer work in the community, there are those opportunities as well.

Fishing

San Carlos is home to an enormous variety of fish all year around. In the spring and summer you’ll catch marlin, sailfish, and find arguably some of the best fishing for dorado (mahi-mahi) anywhere in the world. Depending on the year, yellowfin tuna fishing ranges from spotty to good. In fall and winter you can bottom fish for red snapper, grouper, Mexican salmon, and calico bass or troll for yellowtail or cabrilla.
If you really want to test your fishing skills (and luck!) you can always enter one of the 6 international billfish tournaments which are hosted in San Carlos each summer.
